"God’s Matchless Mercy" – Jonah 4 – Jonny Ardavanis

Concluding his study of the book of Jonah, Jonny expounds the heart of God as revealed in Jonah 4. Nineveh has repented and been spared, and the prophet is furious about it — angry, as he tells God, precisely because he knew Him to be a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.

The book ends not with Jonah's answer but with God's question about the great city and the more than 120,000 people in it. This message sits with that ending and with what it reveals: a mercy wider than the prophet's sympathies, and a God who pursues the very people we might rather see judged.
