Hey friends, thank you for following along as we examine what it means to live faithfully in our current cultural moment. Today, we'll look at how we're called to model biblical, believable living in a culture that desperately needs to see authentic Christianity.
“A Christian is the most contented person in the world, but he is the least contented with the world.”
– Charles Spurgeon
Titus 2:1-2
"But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance."
Notice how Paul emphasizes the importance of living what we believe. He doesn't just say "teach sound doctrine" - he says speak what is "fitting" for sound doctrine. In other words, our lives should match our theology. This isn't about perfection; it's about direction and authenticity.
The word "sensible" appears repeatedly throughout this chapter, and it comes from the root word for "mind." It means living reasonably and rationally based on what we believe. If we truly believe God's Word is true, it should affect how we think, which affects how we live.
Living as a credible Christian isn't just about what we avoid - it's about modeling a life that makes sense in light of what we say we believe. When the world sees consistency between our profession and our practice, they see Christianity that's worth considering.
How well does your daily life reflect what you say you believe?
In what areas might there be a disconnect between your theology and your practice?
What would it look like to live more "sensibly" based on biblical truth this week?
A credible Christian life isn't about perfection, but about living authentically and sensibly from biblical convictions.
Stay dialed in,
